Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy bridges the gap between modern technology and Indigenous Knowledge Systems, fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment. I believe education should empower learners with critical skills like digital literacy, ICT, and real-world problem-solving while preserving their individuality, creativity, and cultural identity.

In my classroom, respect and collaboration form the foundation of learning. I treat learners as individuals, fostering a family-like environment where values and morals are nurtured through encouragement and guidance, not fear. Inspired by my mentor, Mrs Mamabolo, I strive to shape learners’ behaviour to reflect integrity and respect, preparing them to positively impact their communities.

Technology plays a central role in my teaching practice, not as a standalone tool, but as an enabler of creativity, collaboration, and accessibility. I actively integrate smart devices and online collaboration into my lessons, empowering learners to engage with the 4th Industrial Revolution. As a technology advocate, I continuously encourage school leadership to review policies that hinder innovation, ensuring schools evolve alongside emerging technologies.

I also incorporate learners’ real-life experiences and Indigenous Knowledge Systems into lessons, ensuring education remains culturally relevant and practical. This approach preserves African heritage while helping learners relate to their environment and see education as meaningful and transformative.

Beyond my classroom, I am committed to teacher development, equipping in-service educators with tools like flipped classrooms, hybrid learning, and Open Educational Resources. These initiatives ensure no time for learning is lost and help educators stay at the forefront of innovation.

As a lifelong learner and advocate for inclusive education, I aim to preserve, challenge, and contribute to both modern and Indigenous knowledge systems. Through this, I strive to create lasting value for learners, educators, and communities, ensuring education remains a powerful tool for empowerment and transformation.
